Roles and permissions

Build custom roles out of granular permissions and assign them to your team. Everyone gets the part of the admin panel their job needs, and nothing else.

Custom roles listed in the TypingMind admin panel

One admin account shouldn’t run everything

Create as many roles as your organization has jobs. Content moderator, software engineer, business development, finance — each one carries only the permissions that job needs.

Nobody waits on the owner to pull a report or invite a teammate, and nobody gets the keys to the whole workspace to do it.

Permission checkboxes grouped by area in the role editor

Access decided page by page, not all or nothing

Permissions are grouped by area and split between viewing and managing, so a role can read analytics without touching billing, or manage agents without seeing your API keys.

Turn off a permission and the page disappears for everyone in that role. There is no hidden route back into it.

Assigning a user-specific role from a member’s profile

Hand a role to a teammate in one click

Open a member, pick their roles, save. They get admin panel access scoped to exactly what you selected, without a new account or a separate login.

A member can hold several roles at once. Where those roles overlap, the highest level of access applies.

“TypingMind has given us a great, consistent UI for LLM use across the various models. It’s a substantial improvement over some of the early native AI apps many on our team had been using.”

Every corner of the admin panel, under your control

Permissions are grouped by the part of the workspace they unlock. Mix them freely to build the role you need.

Models

Full access to manage the LLMs your workspace runs on — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and your own custom models.

AI Agents & Plugins

Manage agents and everything attached to them: plugins, models, usage limits, and knowledge base.

Reporting

View analytics, manage chat logs, and manage email reports — each one granted separately.

User Management

View or manage users, authentication and SSO, instance access control, usage limits, and roles themselves.

Billing

Let finance view billing details, or manage the plan outright, without opening up the rest of the workspace.

API Keys

Separate viewing the API Keys page from managing the keys, so credentials stay with the people who own them.

Knowledge Base

View the data your team has uploaded, or manage what goes in and what gets removed.

Portal Settings

Manage branding, custom domain, and chat features for the portal your members see every day.

Prompts & Integrations

Manage the prompt library, global system instructions, and the chat widget and API integrations.

Admin panel access and members listed on a user group

Assign to a whole group, not one person at a time

Put a role on a group and every member of it inherits that access. Add someone to marketing and they are set up on their first day, remove them and the access goes with them.

Why teams lock this down on day one

Granular roles solve four problems at once.

Flexibility and control

Bundle the permissions each job needs into a role and hand it out across the organization, however your workflow is shaped.

Security and compliance

Grant the minimum access each person needs. Fewer people holding API keys and billing means a smaller blast radius.

Improved productivity

People land in the part of the panel relevant to their work instead of scanning settings that were never theirs to change.

Scalability

As the team grows, new hires inherit a role that already exists. Access management stops being a per-person decision.

I have entirely switched to TypingMind from the normal ChatGPT client. The responses are typically faster, and you can put chats in folders, search them, switch between all sorts of models.

I'm the CEO/CTO of an AI Edtech startup, and I've been using TypingMind daily since December 2023. Easily one of the best frontends for AI models I've tried: fast, clean, and really optimized for professional workflows.

We started using TypingMind when it was giving out team licenses and our team uses it every day! I use it for my product management work and I'd be quite disappointed if it went away.

It's incredibly powerful and flexible. It allows me to centralize all my interactions with the different models. There's almost no reason for me to use any other application.

I love Typing Mind. One of the best purchases I have made. There is not one single LLM I use — I use ChatGPT for some tasks, Claude for others, and Gemini for others. With TypingMind I don't have to pay a monthly subscription for all of them.

As a CTO of multiple startups, I love this web app. It works well and I save a lot of money by using it because I don't have to pay a subscription to try different models.

This is the best ChatGPT client and I tested so many! So much better than the OpenAI user interface. Added my GPT-4 API to bypass the 25 message cap PLUS have a better user experience.
